Overview
A captivating day exploring two of Cyprus’ most picturesque villages and the island’s most remarkable Byzantine church. This tour will also immerse you in Orthodox Byzantine iconography while crossing the Troodos massif (altitude 1,952 m), with a break on the charming Troodos Square to taste local nuts and liquors. Visit the church of St Nicholas du Toit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Byzantine frescoes from the 11th to the 17th centuries. Kakopetria, a village famous for its old houses. If you wish, enjoy lunch at a regional tavern to taste the local cuisine, highlighting the traditional flavors of the region. The afternoon will take you to the village of Omodhos, Krasochoria, the old wine press Linos and Commandaria. Your excursion culminates with a visit to the ancient Monastery of the Holy Cross, where venerable relics evoke bygone eras.
