AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
Service is warm and engaged, interacting in a natural manner, with none of the rigidity of the classic European fine-dining of Manhattan from a generation or two ago. As Atomix is one of the most desirable and smallest restaurants in Manhattan, serving 14 guests at the chef's table twice a night during two sittings, it takes luck with timing and sheer perseverance to digitally gain a much-coveted reservation. A meal here is a fast step forward to the future, yet the 2 hour-plus meal is human and conversational, akin to a dinner party with the kitchen staff serving, and a handout of pre-printed cards for each course explaining their formulation and relevance. The evolution of this new-Korean, global status fine-dining is one which sources ingredients and synthesizes traditions locally in the trail-blazing quest to be authentic and of nature. The intimate high-end privacy of the 14-seat dining table is more and more an industry norm for much of this era's AAA 5-Diamond dining, but Atomix substantially raises the bar with its innovation in menus, and in the process has now helped define this culinary decade in Manhattan.
