Hyatt Centric the Pike Long Beach

We stayed at the Hyatt Centric at The Pike in Long Beach and were disappointed with several things. Lighting: The lighting in the room is terrible. There are only bright lights near the beds — no dimmer switch or softer options. Worst of all, you have to actually get out of bed to turn the lights on or off. TV placement: The large wall-mounted TV is positioned uncomfortably so that you run into it a lot with your head. It swings out so you can see it from bed, but it’s just not in a good spot. No microwave: For a hotel in this price range, it’s surprising there isn’t even a microwave in the room. Heating and cooling: The vent blows air directly over the bed, whether it’s hot or cold — not ideal for sinuses or comfort. Bathroom ventilation: The fan in the bathroom isn’t very effective and doesn’t clear out odors well. Food options: The downstairs food area was underwhelming and didn’t match the quality you’d expect from a Hyatt. Rooftop bar & pool: The rooftop area looks great with a nice view, but the drinks were overpriced ($45 for two) and not very good. On the plus side, the bed and pillows are like heaven — incredibly comfortable and truly outstanding. The aesthetics are also wonderful; the décor is eye-catching and makes you feel like you’re in a very luxe place. If you want a good breakfast, order delivery from The Breakfast Bar down the road through Uber Eats — it was excellent. Overall, the hotel looks stylish, but all the little issues add up, making this a one-and-done stay for me.

We had a wonderful stay and the staff was amazing

Very tiny room with absolutely zero view. Not worth the money. The best thing about this room was the bathroom. Beautiful glass shower and very roomy bathroom. Tiny tiny closet tiny room.
