Courtyard By Marriott Hershey - Chocolate Avenue

There are multiple things that affected the rating. The hotel staff were very professional and courteous. The few minor issues we had were addressed immediately (extra towels, broken hair dryer). The hotel does need to do some kind of insect and outdoor maintenance. We went on the rear patio on our first night for about 10-15 minutes, which has a fire pit and plenty of chairs, tables and couches, but the cushions were dirty and smelled. My wife, my son, my nephew and I had approximately 50 bug bites within that 10-15 minutes and could not enjoy this area for the rest of our stay. The front sitting area had no cushions and at night you felt like you had to check yourself for spiders and bugs as there was an abundant amount of spiders and webs around each light fixture. I would return because of the staff, the location, the cleanliness of the room and hotel and avoid the outdoor areas. I cannot comment on the pool as we did not use it. There is a food station (not what I would call a restaurant) in the hotel called The Bistro. I would only rate the food 1 star because the selection is extremely limited, we were told the burgers they serve are frozen and can only be served well done. The burgers were beyond well done and the chicken was cold. The fries were soggy and to us it felt like they were cooked earlier and just reheated. The staff would also be rated at 1 star because they overcharged us and didn't know how to either credit the partial or complete amount and re-enter the correct order and were not as friendly or courteous as the hotel staff. I think the management and staff at The Bistro also require additional training in customer relations, how to properly operate the register/kiosk, how to properly handle food storage, food preparation and food service. I would definitely eat elsewhere or have something delivered.

The roomm was immaculate with every convenience in place. The desk attendant was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.
