What to Do in Cooperstown

Cooperstown was founded in 1786 by Judge William Cooper, father of James Fenimore Cooper, who wrote “The Last of the Mohicans” and other tales. Nine-mile-long Otsego Lake, set among hills and forests, is the “Glimmerglass” of Cooper's stories. The original appearances of many of the town's picturesque buildings and houses have been carefully maintained.
