Campground Overview

Introduction

The Longleaf Campground offers walk up campsites for visitors wishing to camp in the frontcountry of Congaree. Campers may park and walk to their site. All campsites have a firepit and picnic table, and the campground has two vault toilets. 10 sites are for individuals or small groups of up to 8 people, while 4 sites are designated for larger groups from 9 to 24 people. The campground is a short drive from the visitor center, where running water is available, as well as park information.

Walk-up Individual Sites - Tent Only

10 Individual Sites are available for reservation and use. Sites can accommodate from 1-8 individuals and 3 tents.

Walk-up Group Sites - Tent Only

4 group campsites are available for groups of between 9 and 24 individuals and can accommodate up to 12 tents/structures. Sites have picnic tables and a firepit.

Rules & Regulations

Fire/Stove Policy

Campers are responsible for extinguishing their campfires upon leaving or vacating their site. Water is available for extinguishing fires at the visitor center.

Accessibility

  • Wheelchair Access

    Wheelchairs are able to travel from the parking lot to Campsite #1 with limited issues. Other sites will have roots and other obstacles that may make use of a standard wheelchair to access them difficult. Wheelchairs made for off-road and difficult terrain will be able to access other sites with more ease. Campsite may have roots and tripping hazards that make navigating around a site difficult.

  • RV Information

    Visitors with RVs or trailers can park them in the parking lot at the campground. This campground does have limited space and during certain seasons room to park larger vehicles or those towing trailers may be difficult. RVs or vehicles with trailers can be parked overnight in the oversized parking lot at the visitor center, but campers may not stay in their vehicles overnight. RVs parked at the campground can be used for restrooms and cooking during the day.

    This campground does offer limited accessibility for campers. Campers can park in the gravel parking lot to access campsites. The trails leading the individual campsites is a flat dirt path with a few trip hazards possible. Campsite #1 has been designated as a campsite for those with accessibility needs. Two vault toilets are available for visitor use. No water or electrical hook-ups are available at this site. Water is available at the visitor center, a short drive from the campground.
