Toy Shack
450 E. Fremont St., Las Vegas, NV, 89101
Whether you’re an avid toy collector or simply looking to take a nostalgic journey down memory lane, Toy Shack is a must-visit store in downtown Las Vegas. Though the shop’s floor-to-ceiling displays feature new items, its specialty is vintage and antique toys. Think old-school treasures from mostly ‘80s brands, including Barbies, GI Joes, and a massive Hot Wheels collection.
The basics
Famous for its appearances on the History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” TV show, Toy Shack is located near the Fremont Street Experience, a dazzling stretch of street-turned-outdoor mall covered in a canopy of lights and spans this part of downtown Las Vegas. If you’re into collectors’ items, consider joining a guided tour to visit similar stops, such as the Shelby American Museum, Ultimate Sports Cards, and Memorabilia. Reality TV-themed tours in Vegas include a stop at the store and several other well-known filming locations from shows such as Tanked, American Restoration, and more.
Things to know before you go
Don’t try to sell your Beanie Babies here; the store already has a considerable display of the toys for sale.
If you want to bring an item in to get appraised, the process for one item usually takes about an hour.
The store is located in the Neonopolis, a massive complex in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, directly off Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street.
How to get there
The Toy Shack is a short drive from the Strip and is easily reachable via a hop-on, hop-off bus tour; get off at the El Cortez (East Fremont Street) stop. You can get to know this historic part of Las Vegas via a tour on foot, by Segway, or even from inside an open-air Jeep.
When to get there
The best time to visit Toy Shack is on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. when the store is usually less busy. When collector and fan conventions like LVL UP EXPO are in town, the store can experience a massive influx of customers, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.
Fremont Street Experience
This pedestrian mall and attraction in downtown Las Vegas spans five blocks of Fremont Street, including the area that was once known as "Glitter Gulch.” Today, the site has been transformed into an entertainment destination with nightly concerts, the world’s largest video screen, and a 12-story slot machine-inspired zip line. It all takes place under a canopy with 49 million LED lights.
