With more than 70,000 square meters dedicated to the exploration of science, Granada’s interactive museum is the most visited museum in all of Andalusia. Packed with educational and engaging exhibits covering topics such as chemistry, astronomy, natural sciences, optical effects, and human anatomy, the Science Park is a playground for the mind.
The basics
Founded in 1990, the science center is dedicated to introducing visitors to educational material in a fun and engaging way by offering guests the opportunity to play with science. For example, check out the Eureka room to learn about simple machines, thermodynamics, and circuits. Or discover the balance of life in the BioDomo—an indoor display of more than 200 living animal and plant species. There’s also an entire outdoor section complete with a butterfly house, botanical garden, and an observation tower.
Things to know before you go
- There is an extra admission fee to visit the planetarium and biodome.
- This museum is great for families with younger children.
- Two dining options and a free picnic area are on site.
- A coat room and lockers are available to visitors free of charge.
How to get there
The museum is roughly a 15-minute walk from Granada’s city center. You can also take the city bus on lines 5, 11, 21, and C5, as well as the single-line light rail until the Alcázar de Genial stop. If you are arriving by car, parking is available on site.
When to get there
The science museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 7pm, and from 10am to 3pm on Sundays. It is closed on Mondays.
Workshops and Tours at the Science Park
In addition to its regular and special exhibits, the Science Park offers approximately 10 daily workshops including a Raptors in Flight workshop where you can learn about the biology, ecology, and conservation of raptors. Plus, there are guided tours to different galleries and halls available.
