Otherwise known as Hello Kitty Land, Sanrio Puroland is an indoor theme park designed around the friendly cartoon cat and other popular Sanrio characters. With its bright colors and adorable design, it epitomizes Japan’s kawaii (cute style) culture. How to get there
Sanrio Puroland is located in Tama Center, 25 miles (40 kilometers) west of Tokyo. While there is parking on-site, the parking lot can get busy, especially on weekends or holidays. Taking the train from Tokyo Shinjuku Station on the Keio Line (not to be confused with the JR Keiyo Line) is the easiest way to get here, and takes about 30 minutes.
When to get there
Sanrio Puroland is open all year round, and makes for a great rainy-day activity. It closes on some weekends during the fall and winter, so check before visiting to make sure it’s open. Shows and parades featuring the Sanrio characters are held every day the park is open.
