Sahara Las Vegas
2535 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV, 89109
Opened in 1952 as the sixth resort on the Las Vegas Strip, Sahara Las Vegas is among the oldest hotels on the Strip. It’s conveniently close to downtown and other major casinos, and its solid evening entertainment programs and varied dining options draw in plenty of non-resident guests.
The basics
Although the Sahara has all the expected trappings of a Las Vegas mega-resort, including table games, slots, and a sports book, live entertainment is what draws a large crowd. Some more popular shows at the Sahara include MJ Live – A Michael Jackson Tribute Concert and Magic Mike, a male cabaret produced by Channing Tatum that features dance and acrobatics. There’s also a decent selection of restaurants, many of which cater to special diets.
Things to know before you go
The Sahara is a must-visit for vegetarian and vegan visitors, with special plant-based and veggie menus at many of their dining outlets.
Overnight guests should expect to pay a resort fee that covers bottled water, free valet and self-parking, and Wi-Fi.
Note that some pools are open to people who aren’t staying at the hotel, but the Alexandria Pool is for resident guests only.
How to get there
There are many different ways to get to the Sahara Las Vegas, even if you don't have a rental car. The Sahara partners with airport shuttle operator LASxpress for overnight guests who need to get to and from the airport, and rideshare services are widely available. The resort is also the northernmost stop on the Las Vegas monorail line.
When to get there
The best time to visit the Sahara is in the evening when live shows occur and the casino is at its liveliest. Evening is also the coolest time of the day to be out and about in Las Vegas. One-off sports watch parties also typically happen in the evenings, but it's best to check beforehand for specific schedules and information.
Vegan dining in Las Vegas
While you’ll find plenty of vegan dishes on the menus at the Sahara, there are plenty of great spots to get your plant-based food fix throughout the city. Plant-based fine-dining fans won't want to miss Crossroads Kitchen at Resorts World, while those who love hearty, tasty Mexican fare will love the extensive options at Tacotarian. For an unusual dinner, visit Blackout Dining in the Dark, a lights-out dining experience with an entirely plant-based mystery menu.
