Queensland Cultural Centre

South Bank, Brisbane, Queensland, 4101

The Queensland Culture Centre on the South Bank comprises four main cultural attractions, the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the State Library of Queensland. A host of cafés, shops, and grassy areas make this a hub of activity in Brisbane.

The basics

The Queensland Cultural Centre welcomes some 7 million visitors each year, who come for the art exhibitions, performances, and family-friendly events. Head to the Performing Arts Centre for concerts and stage shows, and don’t miss the stunning architecture of the State Library of Queensland (which often hosts children’s activities inside). The Queensland Museum documents the changing face of Brisbane and Queensland—from its culture and history to its flora and fauna—over the centuries.

The highlight of the Queensland Cultural Centre is the inspiring Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), which hosts a regular program of visiting and local exhibitions. It's the largest contemporary art gallery in Australia, and also features drama and film. Some city tours include free time at the Cultural Centre.
