Polis Hammam

The basics

To fully experience Polis Hammam, plan for a 1–1.5-hour stay. There are lots of different packages to choose from, but a popular option is a traditional bathing circuit. Begin by entering the therapy room and lying down to relax. To help exfoliate your body and remove dead skin and toxins, a therapist uses a special exfoliation glove and 100% olive body soap. Enjoy a traditional foam massage, then finish the experience with tea and Turkish delight.

Things to know before you go

• Don’t worry about bringing towels, bathrobes, or flip flops—the spa provides them.

• There are on-site lockers to store your personal belongings.

• Be careful when walking around as the ground can be slippery.

• Switch off cell phones and speak quietly in order to not disturb other visitors.

How to get there

It’s easy to get to Polis Hammam by bus; take the 025, 026, 035, or 227 bus to St. Hsap Thiseio bus stop is a 5-minute walk away. The Thissio metro station served by the M1 line is also a 5-minute walk away. If you’re driving, there’s a car park nearby called Parking Christokopidou.

When to get there

The hammam is open throughout the week—typically from late morning until late evening. It can get busy, so rather than just showing up it’s always best to book your treatment in advance. This also means you can read descriptions of different treatments to choose the right one for you.

Where to go after Polis Hamman

After being suitably pampered at Polis Hamman, there are plenty of places to wander to nearby. If you’re hungry, head to Atlantikos a couple of doors down, which offers delicious seafood bites. Alternatively, for a fun and unusual attraction, the Museum of Illusions is only a 2-minute walk away. For an atmospheric fairytale-inspired cafe, Little Kook serves crepes and sweet treats.
