Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery
4051 Omaopio Road, Kula, Maui, HI, 96790
Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery is an 80-acre (32-hectare) organic sugar cane farm paired with the world’s only vodka distillery that uses deep ocean mineral water. An upcountry Maui gem on the slopes of Haleakalā, you can visit for a guided tasting that showcases its sustainable farming and solar-powered production, plus take in sweeping views of Maui’s north and south shores.
The basics
Daily guided tours and tastings provide insights into the farm’s organic methods of growing dozens of sugarcane varieties, as well as its meticulous vodka production process, and conclude with a tasting session. While drop-in visitors are welcome, and the farm can be easily visited by car from Kahului, Pukalani, and Kula, booking reservations is recommended. Travelers who don't wish to drive can take tours focusing on the farm and distillery, or on the Maui Upcountry region.
Things to know before you go
The distillery’s gift shop sells vodka, souvenirs, and locally made products.
An open-air café serves cocktails, local produce, and Maui-style food from late morning to evening daily.
The farm hosts live music daily from early evening to closing.
Tastings are only for visitors who are 21 and over.
How to get there
The farm is at the base of the Haleakalā volcano in Maui’s Upcountry, and is easily reachable by car. From Kahului, take the Hana Highway (Highway 36) south onto Pulehu Road and continue onto Omaopio Road. Look for signs for the Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery. Ample parking is available on-site.
When to get there
The Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery is open daily and can be visited year-round. Tastings and tours are available daily from mid-morming to early evening every 30 minutes, and can be booked by phone or online. The café stays open a touch later.
Visiting Upcountry Maui
The geographical heartland of Maui, Upcountry is at higher elevations skirting Haleakalā, the active volcano forming most of the island. The region is a popular day-trip destination for guided tours of farms, goat dairies, wineries, and distilleries. It’s also the territory of the paniolo, or Hawaiian cowboys, whose first generation learned from Mexican vaqueros invited to the island by Hawaiian royalty after the introduction of cattle ranching.
Ways to explore
You can experience Ocean Organic Vodka on a small-group tour; full-day trips often add stops at ʻIao Valley and a lavender or goat farm, plus offer hotel pickup and drop‑off, guide-led tastings, and scenic views of Maui’s upcountry landscape.
Alternatively, you can visit independently. Drop-ins are welcome, although tastings—which take place daily from 11am to 5pm—are best reserved in advance. The progressive tasting includes five spirits, paired with food or cocktail demonstrations at the on-site café, which is open until 7pm and hosts live music nightly.
Accessibility
The entrance, tasting room, and café are all wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking is also available. Service animals are welcome.
