Museum Geologi

Jl. Diponegoro 57, Bandung, Indonesia, 40122

Museum Geologi is one of the oldest museums in Indonesia, which traces the country’s fascinating geological investigations through 250,000 rocks and minerals, and 60,000 fossils. Spread across two stories, multimedia exhibits explore everything from active volcanoes and the development of human settlements to fossils of ancient human skulls discovered in the Indonesian archipelago.

The basics

Highlights of Museum Geologi include the Indonesian Geology Room, which displays the different geological conditions of the Indonesian islands, and the Orientation Room, where you can see animated reliefs of geographical activities. There’s also a scale model of the largest gold mine in Indonesia, located in Papua, plus a miniature gas and oil drilling tower. There’s an admission fee of 10,000 rupiah to enter the museum, but students, Indonesian nationals, and seniors are eligible for discounted entry.

Things to know before you go

  • If you can’t make it to the museum in person, you can take a virtual tour with a virtual guide on the official website.

  • The museum only accepts cash payments for tickets.

  • You can book group tours by calling the phone number provided on the museum website.

  • Only the first floor of the museum is wheelchair-accessible.
