POINT OF INTEREST

Kaseya Center

601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL, 33132

Home to the NBA’s Miami Heat, Kaseya Center (formerly the American Airlines Arena and Miami-Dade Arena) is a must for sports fans. Open since 1999, the arena is also a major concert venue, having hosted the likes of Madonna, U2, and Mariah Carey. Designed by the architecture firms Arquitectonica and 360 Architecture, the arena on Biscayne Bay is also known for its striking modernist appearance.

The basics

Kaseya Center has 2,105 club seats, 80 luxury suites, and 76 private boxes—there is also space for standing-room-only ticket holders. Within the arena, the Waterfront Theater is Florida's largest theater and can seat between 3,000 and 5,800 for concerts and other stage shows. Tickets for Miami Heat games are mobile-only, which means you won’t need a paper ticket to enter the arena.

The arena does not allow tours of the facility. When it is not in use, maintenance is typically being performed. You can, however, admire the exterior architecture on some sightseeing tours of Miami.

Things to know before you go

  • Kaseya Center is wheelchair-accessible, with designated seating areas. The main ADA-accessible entrance is Gate 3, located on NE 8th Street.

  • The arena enforces a no re-entry policy. Guests may not exit the building and return.

  • Outside food is not allowed, but there are multiple concessions and restaurants in the arena.

  • Bags larger than 10 by 6 inches, laptops, and professional cameras are not permitted.

  • The arena has multiple men’s, women’s, and family restrooms.

  • The public cannot access the arena’s wireless network.

How to get there

Kaseya Center is easy to reach by public transit. It is directly served by the Miami Metrorail at Government Center station via free transfers to Metromover Omni Loop. The Arena is less than a 15-minute walk from the Historic Overtown/Lyric Theatre Metrorail station. If driving, buy an advance parking pass to guarantee a spot.

When to get there

Consult the online calendar for upcoming games and events. Buying tickets in advance is highly recommended. You can buy tickets online or at the ticket office window, located on the north side of the arena near Gate Three. Ticket office hours are usually Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm—hours may be extended on event days, including weekends. In general, doors open to the public one hour prior to the printed event time.

Watch the players

When the team is in town to play a home game, the Miami Heat allows fans with valid tickets to a Miami Heat home game to watch players warm-up prior to the start of the game. This takes place from the time doors open to the public until the end of the 15-minute shoot-around.
