POINT OF INTEREST

Horseshoe Las Vegas

3645 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV, 89109

A roulette ball’s throw from the Las Vegas Strip, Horseshoe Las Vegas has been smack-bang in the heart of the action since it opened its doors in the 1970s. Formerly known as both MGM Grand Hotel and Bally’s, it’s a quintessential Vegas casino–resort complex, home to a hotel, a huge casino and gaming arcade, several show and entertainment venues, plus bars, restaurants, and shops.

The basics

In addition to trying your luck in the casino, which includes a poker room, slot machines, and a race and sports book, you can take in a show at the Magic Attic, or explore their bespoke lounge & bar, The Cabinet of Curiosities, where each cabinet features objects from all around the world. You can also witness the inner workings of the human body at the Real Bodies exhibit, which showcases about 20 real-life human bodies and more than 200 anatomical specimens to illustrate how our insides work. Fitness buffs can also head to the hotel’s gym, championship tennis courts, and pool.

Things to know before you go

  • Families will enjoy the hotel’s indoor space that features black light mini golf, bowling, arcade games, and more.
  • You can easily book a tee time at the Rio Secco and Cascata golf courses, both of which are operated by Caesars Entertainment, which also operates Horseshoe Las Vegas.
  • Day beds and cabanas are available for rent at Blu Pool.

How to get there

Bally’s is located at 3645 South Las Vegas Boulevard in the center of the Strip, across from Caesars Palace and next to Paris Las Vegas. Travelers say that the hotel is easily accessible via car as well as tour buses, and that there is a pickup/drop-off area for ridesharing services.

When to get there

Thanks to the pleasant weather, spring and fall are the most popular times to visit Las Vegas, so expect the biggest crowds at those times. Weekends bring an influx of visitors from nearby cities such as Los Angeles. Also, keep in mind that the pool is open to the public and might get crowded during peak times.

Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino

Situated next to Horseshoe Las Vegas, the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino stands apart from the rest of the Strip thanks to its 50-story replica of the Eiffel Tower, which lights up at night. The hotel also features plenty of other French touches including cobblestone walkways, wrought-iron street lamps, and Parisian-style boutiques.

Ways to explore

Check into one of the luxury rooms and enjoy access to the hotel’s palm-fringed pool, fitness center, and tennis courts, or try your luck at the casino, which has a poker room, slot machines, and sportsbook kiosks. Non-hotel guests can also snag tickets for shows, including magic acts, cabaret-style performances, and live music.

Combine your visit with a trip to the Real Bodies exhibition, a mixology class at The Cabinet of Curiosities, or a spot of shopping at the Grand Bazaar. When you’re ready to explore further, Las Vegas hop-on hop-off bus tours stop right outside.

Accessibility

The hotel, casino, and other attractions are all compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act; wheelchair-accessible hotel rooms and parking are available, and service dogs are permitted throughout. It’s recommended to contact the individual establishment for additional needs.

Age limits

Access to the casino is strictly for those 21 and up. Some shows have minimum age requirements or recommendations. Kids are welcome at the hotel, restaurants, games arcade, and other family-friendly attractions.

What to pack

Photo ID, cash (for tips), reusable water bottle, your swimsuit, a light sweater or cover-up (the air-conditioned venues are often breezy)

What to wear

Smart-casual clothing is fine during the day, but dress to the nines in the evening if you don’t want to feel underdressed.

Not allowed

Tipping isn’t just for restaurants and housekeeping—for the best experience, don’t forget to tip dealers, slot attendants, and cocktail servers at the casino, too.

Amenities

Casino, entertainment venues, wedding chapel, hotel, bars, restaurants, swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness center, golf court access, self-check-in kiosks, valet and self-parking with electric charging stations, meeting rooms, free Wi-Fi throughout
