Genova Caves (Cuevas de Genova)

Carrer del Barranc 45, Palma, Majorca, 07015

Descend 36 meters underground for a guided subterranean exploration at the Genova Caves (Cuevas de Genova). The caves, which are hidden under a restaurant, offer beautiful rock formations as well as pools of water, corridors, and columns and are enhanced with a variety of colorful lights in an audiovisual show.

The Basics

Discovered by accident in 1906, the Genova Caves (sometimes known as the Caves or Coves of Genova) have since become one of the most popular day trip destinations from Palma de Mallorca. They are only accessible via small-group guided tours which take approximately 30 minutes and run throughout the day. Admire the caves’ thousands of icicle-like stalactites and stalagmites, or book a convenient combination ticket that includes a Mallorcan tapas lunch at the restaurant above.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Genova Caves are a great day trip from Palma.

  • The temperature in the caves is cool but humid year-round.

  • Visitors with claustrophobia may struggle in the Genova Caves as there’s no natural light.

  • Flash photography isn’t allowed inside the caves.

  • There’s an onsite restaurant specialising in Mallorcan cuisine.
