POINT OF INTEREST

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

1145 E. Buena Vista Drive, Orlando, FL, 32830

Located within Central Florida’s Walt Disney World® Resort, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is a family-friendly attraction with slides, water cannons, pools, and water rafts. According to the fun and fictitious legend, this once tropical paradise was hit by a huge storm, which is why you’ll find features such as a shipwrecked shrimp boat perched atop Mount Mayday. The park also boasts the largest inland wave pool in North America.

The basics

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is a family-friendly attraction best known for the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool—the largest of its kind in North America (expect waves reaching up to 6 feet high). It features a mix of other attractions, including thrill rides like Mayday Falls and Crush ‘n’ Gusher, as well as all-ages attractions like Castaway Creek and Miss Adventure Falls. You can visit Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park independently of other Disney theme parks, or try to sample a little bit of everything with the Park Hopper® Plus ticket.

Things to know before you go

  • All visitors must wear family-friendly swimwear during their time in the park.
  • Accidents happen, which is why little swimmers still mastering potty training must wear swim diapers or plastic pants in the pool areas.
  • Both towels and lockers are available for rent, so feel free to bring what you need or arrive empty-handed.
  • For a cooler experience, rent an umbrella and lounge chair package or upgrade to a private, shaded Beachcomber Shack.
  • Complimentary standard parking is available for all guests, and no Park Pass reservations are required for entry
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park accommodates service animals, wheelchair rentals, and a variety of other assistive devices.

How to get there

The most convenient and cost-friendly way to get to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park depends on where you’re staying. Those staying at a Walt Disney World® Resort hotel can take the Walt Disney World Water Transportation or Walt Disney World Bus Transportation directly to the park. Guests staying off-property will find it easiest to arrive by car. Florida’s Interstate 4 and SR 429 each have exits that lead into Walt Disney World® Resort.

When to get there

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park’s hours vary by season, though the summer months will see the highest number of daily visitors. Because of Central Florida’s strong heat and summer afternoon thunderstorms, it’s best to arrive as early as possible so you can maximize your time comfortably under the sun. If you’re park hopping, it’s smart to visit another park first (such as Magic Kingdom® Park to beat the long queues) then spend the late afternoon splashing it up at Typhoon Lagoon.

Swimming in the moonlight

Swimming in the Sunshine State is still fun under the moonlight, thanks to Typhoon Lagoon’s seasonal Disney H2O Glow After Hours events. On select nights, you can spend three hours swimming and splashing after the water park closes to the general public. These limited-capacity events feature a DJ dance party, colorful lights, shorter wait times for attractions, and special visits from beloved Disney characters. Plus, snacks are included in the ticket price.

Ways to explore

Many visitors choose to prebook their tickets to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park to lock in preferred dates ahead of time. Standard tickets include park admission, allowing you to explore the slides, wave pool, and attractions at your own pace. Some options also offer Park Hopper access, which lets you visit multiple Walt Disney World® parks through one convenient pass. Tickets are available for different durations, too, making it easy to select a package that fits your budget, schedule, and overall trip plans.
