Cloudraker Skybridge (Whistler Suspension Bridge)
Whistler, Canada
High above Whistler Bowl, stretching 427 feet (130 meters) across, the Cloudraker Skybridge connects Whistler Peak and West Ridge. The bridge also allows access to the Raven’s Eye, a cantilevered viewing platform that extends 41 feet (12.5 meters) out from West Ridge, offering incredible panoramic views.
The basics
At 7,160 feet (2,182 meters) above Whistler Village, the Cloudraker Skybridge (or Whistler Suspension Bridge) is one of the highest suspension bridges in the world. It’s easy to explore on your own, as part of a Whistler Blackcomb summer alpine experience. Enjoy the views as you take the Blackcomb Gondola, Peak 2 Peak Gondola, and Peak Express chairlift to the summit, then walk across the bridge. From both the bridge and the Raven’s Eye lookout point, you’ll admire sweeping views of the alpine landscape.
Things to know before you go
Admission to the Cloudraker Skybridge is included as part of the Whistler Summer Alpine Experience ticket. Whistler season pass holders and bike park unlimited pass holders have free access as well.
There are height restrictions to ride the Peak Express chairlift, which is required to reach the bridge.
Bring layers, as it may be windy at the bridge, and will be colder up top than in the village.
The bridge may not be suitable for travelers with a fear of heights or who suffer from vertigo.
How to get there
The Cloudraker Skybridge is located at the Top of the World Summit on Whistler Mountain. Take the Blackcomb Gondola up, then the Peak 2 Peak gondola to Whistler Mountain. From Roundhouse Lodge, walk down the Peak Express Traverse trail for 0.4 miles (0.6 kilometers) and take the Peak Express chairlift up to reach the bridge.
When to get there
The Cloudraker Skybridge is open during Whistler Mountain’s summer season, which tends to run from mid-June to mid-September, depending on the weather. Note that even during the summer season, the weather can affect access to the mountain. Go early in the day to beat the crowds and to make the most of your day on the mountain; visit in mid-summer to see wildflowers.
Whistler summer alpine experience
Visitors can take in fantastic views from the Peak 2 Peak gondola, which stretches between Blackcomb Mountain and Whistler Mountain. You’ll also have access to more than 50 miles (80 kilometers) of hiking trails on both sites, as well as dining at the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain. Guided hiking tours, geology and ecology tours, and bear-viewing tours are also available.
