Bewitched Statue

Lappin Park, Salem, Massachusetts

Located in Lappin Park in Salem, the Bewitched Statue is a tribute to actress Elizabeth Montgomery, the star of the popular 1960s show, Bewitched. Unveiled in 2005, the 9-foot (2.7-meter tall bronze statue features Montgomery’s character, the fictional witch Samantha Stephens, sitting on a broomstick in front of a crescent moon.

The statue was given to the city of Salem by the nostalgia cable channel TV Land, which broadcasted reruns of Bewitched. Several episodes of the seventh season of the show were filmed in Salem. Fans of the show enjoy posing for photos with the nose-twitching witch. Many Salem sightseeing tours pass by the statue, and it’s easy to combine a stop here with a tour of nearby attractions, such as the Old Burying Point Cemetery and Salem Witch Museum.

The Bewitched Statue is located in Lappin Park, at the corner of Washington and Essex Streets, in the heart of downtown Salem. It’s within walking distance of many attractions.

The Bewitched Statue can be visited at any time. It’s a popular attraction, and there is often a line of people waiting to take a photo with it. October sees the largest crowds in Salem. If you visit near the Christmas holidays, you can also enjoy the large Christmas tree that is set up in Lappin Park every year.

The Bewitched Statue is one of a series of statues that TV Land has erected in different cities in tribute to a TV character or icon. Other examples include Ralph Kramden in front of the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York, Andy Griffith and Opie in Raleigh, North Carolina, Bob Newhart in Chicago, and Mary Tyler Moore at the Nicollett Mall in Minneapolis.
