Spring: Best Time to Visit for Great Weather

Months: March–May

Temperatures: 70°F–95°F

Experienced visitors generally agree that the best time to visit Las Vegas is in the spring before the Las Vegas Valley hits record temperatures, and it’s still cool enough to spend plenty of time outdoors.

Balmy warm days offer plenty of time to indulge in activities like horseback rides through the countryside around town or hikes through the nearby Grand Canyon complex. Cool evenings are perfect for relaxing in town or exploring the city’s tempting shopping, dining and entertainment venues. You’ll still encounter occasional cool periods, so pack garments like sweaters, light jackets and long jeans or pants to stay comfortable.

Cost is the biggest challenge for many Spring visitors, as higher numbers of tourists drive prices up. If you plan your trip in advance and use AAA’s unbeatable offers on lodging and activities, you can stay within budget without sacrificing fun.

  1. Hike the Red Rock Canyon, Turtle Rock and other stunning desert locations.
  2. Enjoy a taste of adventure with kayak, horseback or white water rafting tours.
  3. Party at the pool with perfect spring temperatures for swimming and having fun in the sun.
  4. Explore annual events like the Electric Daisy Carnival, Viva Las Vegas and NASCAR races.

Fall: Best Season for Events and Entertainment

Months: September–November

Temperatures: 95°F–45°F

Fall is the second most popular time of year to visit Las Vegas, with plenty of things to do attracting new visitors eager to explore the city after the summer heat has broken. Cooler temps also make Vegas a popular fall destination for annual events like the IHEARTRADIO music festival and pop-up Halloween haunts.

Even toward the end of the season, daytime temperatures regularly hover around a gentle 60 to 70°F — cool enough to stay active with visits to Hoover Dam or simply to relax at one of Vegas’ many luxurious rooftop bars or restaurants. It’s best to layer lighter summer clothing with warmer garments in the evening, while heavier winter clothing will help you stay comfortable later in the season.

The fall high season is typically marked by rising prices similar to those in the spring, so plan ahead and use your AAA member advantages to make an autumn Vegas vacation viable.

  1. Dance and sing your heart out at iconic music festivals like IHEARTRADIO Fest, When We Were Young, Reggae Rise Up and more.
  2. Drink locally with a little vino at the Vegas Valley Winery, or plan to visit the Hofbräuhaus Octoberfest.
  3. Keep it family-friendly and enjoy seasonal hot cider, sweet treats and fall fun at neighboring pumpkin patches and farms.
  4. Get spooky with special Vegas Halloween shows, ghostly parties and haunted museums.

Winter: Best Time to Visit for Less Crowds

Months: December–February

Temperatures: 30°F–65°F

Winter is the best time to beat the crowds while keeping as many options open for adventure and relaxation as possible. Also called the “shoulder season,” December through February is often the perfect balance of mild weather, lower prices and plenty to do. Winter is also a great time to experience more of the city as it’s known to local residents, with seasonal activities such as Second Sunday, a showcase of local artists, entertainment and vendors at the Downtown Container Park being an end-of-year highlight.

Winter is one of the slower periods of the year, so you won’t have to worry about peak crowds, availability, or costs. Winter temperatures in Vegas almost never dip below 40°F, so you should be able to stay comfortable with a warm jacket and a few lighter accessories like a scarf, hat and sweater.

From world-class shows featuring acrobats, magicians and musicians to Madame Tussauds Museum and other fun attractions and hidden gems in Las Vegas. With your AAA membership discounts and top-quality deals, you can make an unforgettable trip to Vegas for your ideal winter getaway.

  1. Enjoy classic Las Vegas shows and attractions with fewer crowds and even more (holiday) lights to brighten your vacation.
  2. Explore winter activities in the desert with ice skating on the Strip and annual festivities like Enchant Christmas Maze and activities.
  3. Stay warm shopping until you enter the city’s luxury outlets and bustling malls.
  4. Learn something new by visiting unique Vegas museums like the Museum of Illusions and Mob Museum.

Summer: Best Time for Scoring Great Deals

Months: June–August

Temperatures: 75°F–100°F+

Summer temperatures in Las Vegas regularly exceed 100°F, making this one of the most uncomfortable seasons to visit. However, there are some surprising advantages if you’re traveling on a budget.

Since the Mojave heat discourages other visitors from making their way to Sin City in the summer, you can find some of the best deals in town on hotels and activities when you plan a trip at this time of year. Like in winter, fewer visitors means smaller crowds, shorter lines and often tempting deals on tour packages, entertainment, top Vegas restaurants and more.

Air-conditioned theaters and casinos offer a welcome refuge from the sun, and you can relax near one of the many pools in town in the mornings and evenings. When packing for Vegas, bring lightweight clothing like summer dresses, t-shirts, shorts and sandals, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated in that dry heat.

  1. Stay inside the casinos, showrooms, and bars to experience the classic Vegas vibes without the peak-season bustle.
  2. Take a helicopter tour to see the desert’s natural beauty or walk the Strip for some relief from the heat.
  3. Take a day trip to nearby natural attractions and join a night hiking group for adventure and stargazing after the sun sets.
  4. Enjoy summer concerts with poolside stages at popular resorts, including the Mandalay Bay and M Resort and Casino.
