AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
Guest rooms at this massive, yellow brick 1902 hotel range in size due to the historic nature of the property, but all have upscale appointments. The lobby’s ceiling frescoes are truly breathtaking. Once a popular spot for its three mineral springs, this hotel had its own train station. The historic charm and ambience have been thoughtfully maintained but supplemented with modern conveniences. Located in the center of a small town, the hotel's grounds are graced with mature shade trees, flower gardens and expansive lawns frequented by shy deer. Situated behind the hotel is a Japanese-style garden with a shallow pool and a large gazebo which encloses "The Pluto Well," a sulfurous spring that was once esteemed for its allegedly therapeutic values. The lobby is large and is decorated with intricate plaster work on the ceiling and classical-themed frescoes. The lobby, adorned with many potted orchids, roses and palms, is studded with faux marble Corinthian columns and has the original mosaic floors. There also is an extensive variety of high-quality shops, including two art shops. Recreational facilities are extensive and include a bowling alley, skeet range and a large pool area with a central island adorned with figures of dolphins spouting water. Corridors are decorated with historic photo art of the former owner, Tom Taggart, who was the governor of Indiana. The hotel offers various kids' programs that include such activities as arts and crafts, movies and outdoor recreational activities. Smoke free premises. 443 units, some two bedrooms. 6-7 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Our stay at the French Lick Springs Hotel was amazing! This hotel was full of history. The resort was clean and updated, but still maintained the historical architecture. The staff were pleasant, and very helpful. We ate at the 1857 Steakhouse, my husband said it was one of the best steaks he ever had. Plenty of options for restaurants. The trolley took us over to the West Baden Resort and downtown to the museum - didn't need the car to get around.
Such a beautiful hotel with lots of dining choices and super friendly staff!
