Weather

Late spring and early summer are the driest times of the year, with relative humidity often falling below 10% during the day. Early July through September is the the “monsoon” season. Strong ground-level heating creates updrafts of warm air, which produce powerful thunderstorms whenever there is sufficient moisture. Nights begin to get cooler in late August and early September. Winter precipitation usually falls as snow on the rims, however, Desert View campground is closed during winter months.
