Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace is at 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. S. (just n. of Flamingo Rd.). This Roman-themed resort, opened in 1966, is perhaps the epitome of over-the-top opulence meets preposterous Vegas cheese. You'd sooner find your way out of Rome's catacombs—sans flashlight—than you would this massive property, with its never-ending casino and shopping labyrinth. A 20-foot statue of the toga-clad ruler himself, presumably hailing a cab, stands at the Italian cypress-lined driveway leading to the main entrance. Inside, the front-of-house gaming tables occupy a domed rotunda lined with sparkling gold lights. Beyond lies a realm marked by giant Roman statues and bas-reliefs, Corinthian columns, colonnades and a cocktail lounge housed in a replica of Cleopatra's Nile River barge. It's all fantastically tacky, a reminder of the good old days before the Emperors of Good Taste took over Vegas. The huge Caesars Race & Sportsbook (sports betting venue) is next to The Colosseum, a 4,300-seat theater that hosts superstars of the music and entertainment industry. Out back is the Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis (open to non-hotel guests with rental of a cabana or daybed), an impressive 5-acre spread of Greco-Roman themed swimming pools complete with private cabanas, cocktail bars and swim-up blackjack tables. The Qua Baths & Spa is an upscale 50,000-square-foot facility that features three Roman baths and offers a variety of massages, facials and other treatments.
