Antique furnishings, Impressionist paintings in ornate frames, and carved-wood details create an atmosphere of elegance in the rooms at this lodging. It's only a hop to Manitou's charming center. With Clark Gable and President Theodore Roosevelt as past guests, The Cliff House has always been the choice for discriminating individuals. Stay in one of the celebrity suites decorated to honor famous past guests. In nice weather, sip a cocktail or eat a meal on the veranda overlooking the garden. Room was probably close to 90 degrees when we arrived. Windows were open and we were able to find a fan in the closet that kind of helped with the air flow. The gas fireplace was also on.. which didn’t help the situation. The heating vent clicked all night. On brochure it stated they served a light breakfast in the morning with fruit, pastry and few other things. Breakfast was good until we were charged $15 per person. Checkin staff was friendly but felt they should have been a little more upfront about the breakfast cost. Valet guys were very nice and helpful. Location was close to downtime and easily accessible , but make sure you do the valet during busy times or parking is a nightmare.
The hotel was well restored and clean but a couple of things were irksome; you pretty much have to use valet parking because street parking is at a premium in this touristy area and their billing to my credit card did not match my checkout invoices. The hotel has a parking structure but only allow valet to use it. If you use valet, they add $15.00 per day to your room bill. My wife and I stayed there twice this month and each time their charge to my credit card did not match my check out invoice. The first stay was billed about 7% higher and the second about 14% higher. I called the hotel twice to notify them of these overcharges but they didn’t return my calls. I had to straighten it out through my credit card company.
