The 8.5-mile Lewis & Clark Discovery Trail runs from Long Beach to Ilwaco. The main access point is at the foot of Bolstad Street, off SR 103. The trail includes a 12-foot-wide elevated boardwalk extending along 2,300 feet of beachfront. It has three observation platforms with interpretive displays of natural history, including a restored skeleton of a 38-foot gray whale.
The blue summer sky above Long Beach is filled with multicolored kites of every size and shape during the Washington State International Kite Festival, which takes place the third week in August. Championship kite fliers from around the world come here to demonstrate their skills and compete in competitions, while novices can attend kite-building workshops.
