The grave of Ann Rutledge, an early acquaintance of Abraham Lincoln, is in Oakland Cemetery at the edge of town. Nearby is the grave of Edgar Lee Masters, author of “Spoon River Anthology.” His home at Eighth and Jackson streets is open for tours by appointment; phone (217) 415-4378. Artifacts, documents and mementos of Menard County's past are on display at Menard County Historical Museum, Seventh and Jackson streets.
