Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center is at 1013 Lafayette Blvd. (US 1) on the Sunken Road. The center presents a 22-minute film and museum exhibits about the battle that occurred on Dec. 13, 1862. Walking trails lead to the Sunken Road, Marye’s Heights and the Fredericksburg National Cemetery. A 5-mile driving tour starts and ends at the center, covering the majority of the battlefield. Historians lead seasonal walking tours along the Sunken Road. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
